Elevator Systems
Although it is not easily perceivable in the first look, not all the elevators work the same way. Elevator systems are designed considering to the purposes of utilization, and differ from each other depending on the specifications of the spaces, travel distances, kinds of freights, etc. Even the elevator of a 5 flat apartment block and a 30 story skyscraper are different from each other in many aspects.
Elevators are not only used to carry passengers to higher flats of the buildings. Sometimes, transferring heavy but fragile loads just a few meters up or down is also a requirement. It is clear that an elevator system working inside the body of a dam traveling a distance of hundreds of meters, but with only a few levels to stop, is way different from an elevator system we see at a multistory car park carrying tons of weights, slowly but safely. For different usage purposes, different elevator systems have been designed, and are divided into two main types as; "electromechanical" and "hydraulic."
